Just realize rec room is permanently shutting down very soon and the sad 😪part about it is i only try out the game 🎮 one time and that was years ago… 😅 but i can say it will be miss since so many people play it Also here are some of the critical reason it is geting shut down from what i have gain from my research 🔬🧐 and from the information ℹ i have gather up. 👍❤ 1.Overwhelming Operating Costs: Despite boasting over 150 million users throughout its lifetime, the cost of running massive servers, maintaining the platform, and developing new features far exceeded the revenue they brought in. 2.Low Revenue Margins on UGC: The game bet heavily on user-generated content (UGC), but the margins were incredibly thin. Rec Room only kept about 30 cents on every dollar spent in user-made rooms, with the rest going to platforms and the creators themselves. 3.Expensive AI Features: The introduction of advanced creation tools—such as Maker AI and the Roomie companion—proved to be incredibly costly. The per-user costs of supporting these AI tools exceeded the subscription revenue they were meant to drive. 4.Shift in the VR Market: The broader VR gaming industry experienced significant headwinds, including pivots from major hardware companies away from supporting standalone VR gaming. This caused a stagnation in new user acquisition, compounding their financial deficits. 5.Demographics and Monetization Issues: A vast majority of the player base consisted of younger audiences who did not frequently purchase in-game tokens or subscribe to the $7.99/month Rec Room Plus premium membership. This disproportionate ratio of free-to-play users to paying subscribers left the studio without a reliable income stream. At least i got to play it one time back then just to experience the cool social interaction and experience the environment just hate to see this happen. 😪💔 i wander what are there next plans and what will they do? 🤔💭
